Dubai Nurseries Health and Safety Standards
Security and Safety
At Emirates British Nursery, the safety of the children in our care is of paramount importance. Our aim is to create a safe, secure and positive learning environment for the children. As such, we have implemented robust health and safety standards in all four Emirates British Nurseries.
The needs of children are very specific, and we pride ourselves on the conversion and construction of buildings that are perfect for children. As a result, the nurseries are bright, spacious and purpose-built, with colourful, vibrant classrooms and extensive shaded outside play areas. There is a 24-hour security guard at the Mirdif, The Villa and Motor City branches. CCTV cameras are installed in all the nurseries, enabling us to monitor everyone entering the premises. In addition, we have an access card system which only allows entry to parents and nursery staff.
We have a complete set of Health and Safety policies and procedures. This is available to all parents and is intended to give you comprehensive information about the nursery. This fosters best practices and a safe, healthy, happy environment for children, parents, and staff.
Health
We have a fully equipped clinic and licensed nurse at every nursery. If children become ill at nursery, they are looked after at the clinic until collected by the parent or guardian. Medical examinations are carried out on children at the time of entry to the nursery and periodically in accordance with the Department of Health Authority. The medical examination includes measurements of height and weight. Parents need to complete and sign all medical forms before their child starts nursery.
Snack Time
We know how important and challenging it can be to provide children with a balanced nutritious diet with a variety of snacks so that the little ones don’t get bored. We provide parents with helpful information and ideas for your child’s snack time. Parents need to send two snacks with their children every day: breakfast and lunch. Please ensure that the food is sent in appropriate labelled containers that will keep the food warm or cold; we are not able to refrigerate or heat food in the nursery.
We are more than happy if you want to use an insulated lunch box/bag with an ice pack. The children eat at 8:30am – 9:00am and 11:30am – 12:00am. For the afternoon activity class (2pm-4pm), additional snacks are required.
It is important that all dietary requirements are discussed with the nurse before your child starts at nursery. Medical forms are also required to be completed and returned prior to your child starting at the nursery. Please send at least 2 labelled drinks with your child to nursery every day. All children have access to drinking water and fizzy drinks are not permitted. By teaching and encouraging healthy eating habits, we are giving your child important tools for a lifetime of healthy living.
Allergies: due to the allergies of some children, we don’t allow nuts in your child’s snack – this includes nut-based foods such as peanut butter and Nutella.
